Pasporte improves Orient Express ICT platform
Orient-Express Hotels (OEH) IT infrastructure had been developed in a piecemeal fashion, and as a result was complex, time-consuming and costly to manage. With limited budgets and resource to dedicate to IT services, OEH looked to upgrade to a managed IT platform that would provide consistent service levels and increased productivity, whilst reducing costs across the organisation. As a hotel and leisure company providing luxury travel experiences for discerning travellers in areas of outstanding cultural, historic or recreational interest, OEH also wanted to enhance its brand values through high quality IT and excellent business process. It also wanted to improve security for all core business services, reduce costs across the business while achieving predictable and manageable IT costs, and achieve 24-hour IT systems operation. Following a series of consultations, OEH awarded the contract to Pasporte who implemented a tailor-made solution designed to meet all the IT requirements of OEH. OEH deployed a fully managed network, applications and desktop environment and a hosted IP phone solution throughout the entire UK business, complete with managed security and back up. Dedicated internet connectivity provides sufficient and flexible bandwidth for websites, enterprise resoucrce applications and its Rail Reservation system. And it now has a round-the-clock systems monitoring, management and helpdesk. The initial transformation
phase was accomplished with minimum disruption to business activities
and further branch offices and hotels worldwide will undergo a staged
migration in the near future. OEH has moved to a consistent level of IT performance across the organisation that provides enhanced performance, flexibility and security of new and existing applications, saving of 20% of IT costs on an annual basis. It now has the ability to upgrade to new services and applications on-demand, and to inflate bandwidth to support increased traffic as and when needed. The transformation also has provision for remote working practices and real time analysis of network traffic and statistics. Contact Reproduced from Retail
