Petrol forecourt store deploys ZBD ‘epaper’ system for dynamic pricing

Petrol forecourt store deploys ZBD ‘epaper’ system for dynamic pricing

The Netherlands’ busiest petrol forecourt store, the Shell store near Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, has installed electronic shelf labels from ZBD, the epaper for retail specialist, to enable dynamic pricing that will reduce operational costs.

The owner of the Shell store, stated: “We decided to implement ZBD’s epops because we wanted the ability to change our prices in the POS [point-of-sale] system and on the shelf edge at the same time. We also felt that ZBD’s electronic shelf labelling solution was the system with the best look and feel. Other future advantages may include ‘dynamic pricing,’ so that we can change prices depending on the time of day, as we are open 24 hours a day.

Immediate benefit, future plans

“In the future, we might also be able to work with the brands that we stock in ‘promotional activities,’ as we are able to show logos on the displays.”

System integrator CREO-CPS was responsible for the integration of the ZBD solution with the store’s existing back-office solution for petrol stations provided by JNG IT and the Tokheim Retail automation solution, a specialist petrol station solution provider. The site had previously been using paper labels throughout the store.

The forecourt owner continued: “The ZBD solution integrated seamlessly with the Tokheim system due to the scalability and easy fit provided by the two parties involved; JNG IT and CREO-CPS. The solution resulted in a delivery without any disruption to our business and with impressive low installation costs. The store in which the epops have been implemented is around 140 square metres and only one Bounce communicator is needed to support the whole system. The epops are working very well and look great. We’ve had excellent feedback from our customers.”
