South African retailer targets faster transaction times and better stock visibility and promotional agility

South African retailer targets faster transaction times and better stock visibility and promotional agility

South African retailer, Pick n Pay, has appointed PCMS to roll out its Vision BeanStore electronic point-of-sale (EPoS) solution after the company undertook a global market review to find the most suitable system.

Pick n Pay Retailers is one of South Africa’s largest food retailers, with an annual turnover of $7.5billion (£4.7bn) and 794 stores throughout Southern Africa. The company was aware that it needed a new EPoS system to enable it to offer additional services to customers, provide continual operational efficiency and productivity improvements, and deliver greater visibility on performance in different regions.

Taking operational efficiency in-store

Vision BeanStore will support Pick n Pay’s dedication to putting the customer first by enabling faster transaction times, better stock awareness and supporting a greater level of promotions. Vision BeanStore’s simple user interface will also mean easier sales processes for staff, with reduced training times.

Bronwen Rohland, director of information services at Pick n Pay, commented: “After a successful installation of SAP, it showed other areas of the business where we would achieve significant benefits from upgrading. As we continue to grow our portfolio, it was important to find an EPoS system that had the flexibility to enable this and would provide greater visibility and reporting to the central team. We’re delighted to be working with PCMS; its Vision BeanStore system offers us a wealth of functionality that will support our business today, and in the future.”

PCMS will be rolling out core product Vision BeanStore in 2011 with support from the company’s local South African distributor, MarkeTech.
