GuestLogix selected by Air Transat to improve travel experience and grow revenues with OnTouch Merchandising

GuestLogix, a provider of onboard store technology to airlines and the passenger travel industry, recently announced that Air Transat, Canadian holiday travel airline, has selected the provider’s OnTouch retail technology and merchandising platform.

The multi-year agreement was facilitated by Cara Airline Solutions. And the airline has begun the deployment of OnTouch travel-relevant, destination based products and services across the airline. It is anticipated that the initial rollouts will be focused on European and Mexican destinations.

"The GuestLogix OnTouch merchandising platform dovetails beautifully with our strategy of boosting our level of service and offering our customers more products and services at their leisure destination," said Keith Lawless, Air Transat senior director environment and business improvement.

Enabling complete offering

"We believe the implementation of the merchandising platform will place us in a unique position to service our customers' complete vacation needs, whether in the air, on arrival, on the beach, touring destination sites and even upon return home."

The OnTouch merchandising platform is designed to give Air Transat direct access to a global portfolio of travel-relevant, destination based products and services that will provide new revenue streams for Air Transat and at the same time enhance passenger experience. In addition, GuestLogix provides tools to create, manage and control a more comprehensive branded onboard store that can be accessed both in the air and on the ground through Air Transat's current distribution channels. As a result, Air Transat will be able to develop strategic offerings that evolve from standard onboard retailing initiatives into much more passenger-driven, travel-relevant, destination based programmes, according to the provider.

"Air Transat presents an ideal scenario to fully deploy OnTouch across the entire airline as leisure travellers are more emotionally predisposed to spending on their trip," said Tom Douramakos, GuestLogix president and chief executive. "It's our experience that leisure travellers are the highest ancillary revenue per passenger trip generators for airlines. Air Transat now has the opportunity to create a branded onboard store with a global reach that will drive new revenue streams and help each passenger get more out of their trip."
