Streamlines key customer communications medium with local printing capabilities

Streamlines key customer communications medium with local printing capabilities

Waitrose has announced that a live trial in its Byers Road Glasgow store of the In-Branch Printing solution from Episys has been successful and that the daily ticket batches will continue to be printed locally in the branch.

The 244-store UK supermarket chain wanted to compare the process of delivering the daily ticket batches electronically for printing locally in branch to the current process, where tickets are printed centrally within the head office print room at Bracknell and then shipped overnight via the Waitrose distribution network to the branches.

Closing the communications gap

The trial is being conducted at Waitrose’s Byers Road Glasgow branch, due to it being one of the furthest Waitrose branches from its head office in Bracknell. Branches this far away present a challenge for the existing process as the time window for ticket production is reduced as the lorries have to leave earlier in order to arrive in Glasgow in time for trading.

David Andrews, head of commercial operations at Waitrose, said: “This project has been a great success, and we are now extending the programme to our five new branches in the Channel Islands. Episys have worked closely with us to make sure the solution works in a multi-branch environment, and we’re delighted with how the solution is supporting our business, making it possible for us to extend our trading footprint.”
