Chico’s FAS Inc. selects PTC Windchill FlexPLM to cut development time and production costs out of product lifecycle

The Product Development Company PTC recently revealed that speciality fashion retailer Chico’s FAS Inc. has selected its Windchill FlexPLM product lifecycle management (PLM) software to harmonise operations across category, brand, and departments.

By choosing Windchill FlexPLM across all of its brands, including Chico’s, White House|Black Market and Soma Intimates, the company is demonstrating a commitment to increase operational and inventory efficiency and reduce development time and production cost, according to the vendor.

Speeding product development

Founded in 1983, the company now operates over 1,074 boutique stores under its brands, located in 48 US states, the District of Columbia, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. The Chico’s brand also operates a monthly catalogue and e-commerce store.

“When evaluating PLM vendors, we wanted software that was not only going to help us drive productivity and reduce costs, but we wanted a solution that was going to be easy to use,” said Krissy Blakeway, senior vice president of Chico’s design and product development. “As the technology leader, PTC was the unanimous choice of our user community. We believe that as we move forward and standardise on Windchill FlexPLM, our ability to be first to market with the latest fashion will be enhanced.”

By implementing Windchill FlexPLM, Chico’s expects to realise reductions in materials costs, cycle times and product development costs, and by so doing, also tackle common retailing challenges around margin management and reduced product cost, as well as inventory efficiency and productivity.
