Rewards scheme builds customer excitement around limited rewards promotions

Rewards scheme builds customer excitement around limited rewards promotions

Tesco Clubcard Rewards is offering customers the opportunity to exchange their Clubcard vouchers for limited time offers or limited availability goods for up to three times the face value.

The retailer is working with multichannel specialist IVIS Group, which built and implemented the technology running each promotion. A countdown mechanism shows customers how long an offer has to run or how many products there are left to claim.

Extending promotional choice

“The countdown functionality adds an element of excitement and hype to our Rewards promotions for customers,” said Emma Lawrence-Jones, Clubcard marketing manager at Tesco.

“We have a variety of great value limited offers, which have included a £15 iTunes token for £7.50 in Clubcard vouchers, which sold out in under 90 minutes. Customers can see stock levels counting down in real time as the products are being sold. This helps creates a ‘me too’ effect with others rushing to get their hands on the great deals.”

The scheme is also running offers where products are on sale for a limited time, for example special deals available for a week or month.

Engaging customers fully

“Our limited availability and limited time only offers are a different way to build customer interest in products when they visit the website,” Tesco Clubcard’s Emma Lawrence-Jones continued.

IVIS Group has recently assisted the scheme in revamping the Rewards section of the site to be consistent with the rest of the Clubcard website.

“We’ll continue to work with Tesco over the coming months to enhance the Rewards section of the Clubcard website, delivering more enticing customer offers,” said Paul Bolton, director of product and corporate strategy at IVIS Group. “Promotions such as these drive people online to engage with the Tesco brand, and help to increase traffic to the main grocery and Tesco Direct websites.”
