New report by Ovum's Retail Technology team provides detailed analysis of the IT market

 

In collaboration with analysts from the Verdict Research business unit, Ovum's Retail Technology team has just published a report that outlines the key changes in the retail industry.

 

It explains which technology trends will have the biggest impact in the sector and analyses the implications and opportunities of these developments in North America and Europe for both retailers and providers of technologies and services during 2010.

 

Loyal vital during tough times

 

Key highlights in include the prediction that retailers can expect 2010 to be another year of struggle and that retailer sales will continue to suffer in 2010. Even economies where there is talk of 'green shoots,' the report says recoveries will be fragile, while high unemployment will continue to have a negative effect on consumer confidence.

 

The Ovum team reports then that, as shifting consumer habits drive change in retail businesses, focus on the existing loyal customer base will be vital for retaining market share. “Applied correctly, technology can enable business to respond to such issues,” stated the analyst.
