New online marketplace for collectable toys and models chooses Skrill to manage its online payment options

New online marketplace for collectable toys and models chooses Skrill to manage its online payment options

Toy Collector, the new online marketplace for collectable toys and models, is now fully operational after its successful Beta launch, partnering with European online payment provider, Skrill (the new name for Moneybookers), to operate its online payment options.

The partnership with Toy Collector provides collectors, hobbyists and merchants with an online global market to buy and sell their collections. It currently has several hundred rare and collectable items for sale on the site, with more being added every day.

Tapping new market opportunity

With the success of Etsy, the specialist marketplace for handmade goods, and eBay's move towards a more mainstream retail model focused on consumer goods, the new Toy Collector platform has been specially tailored to the antiques and collectables market, catering to both antique and modern items along with a number of features designed to benefit both buyers and sellers.

Laurent Luong, Toy Collector's marketplace director, said: "Choosing Skrill to manage our online payment services, we have opened up our marketplace to the 20 million global Skrill account holders, offering more than 100 payment options in over 200 countries and territories and online payment processing in over 41 different currencies."

Martin Ott, Skrill co-chief executive, said: “For new online marketplaces to realize their true potential and generate maximum revenues, it's vital they offer a truly reliable and secure payment option in multiple languages with local currency options. Our partnership with Toy Collector offers a highly cost effective, one stop shop payment solution allowing them to optimize their revenue streams and market to new and existing users."
