Payments provider launch of e-gift card is aimed at small to midsized retail firms like Janette Moss Horse Wear

 

Global payments provider and US Bancorp subsidiary Elavon recently launched www.elavongiftcard.co.uk, a brand new website designed to make it easy for small and medium enterprise (SME) merchants to deploy their own branded card programmes quickly, easily and inexpensively.

 

On www.elavongiftcard.co.uk, SME merchants can find out about Elavon’s Electronic Gift Card Plus solution and buy everything they need to launch a programme from as little as £199, according to its provider.

 

Lowering barriers to entry

 

Historically, due to fairly expensive set up costs, it said that gift, loyalty, pre-paid and promotional card programmes have largely been the domain of larger organisations. But the Elavon system can offer the benefits of gift cards to all merchants through their existing terminal.

 

Claire Gajeckyj, head of European marketing at Elavon, explained: “We know from talking to our SME customers that the quest for added value is always front of mind, as is the need to instil loyalty amongst customers in an ever competitive space.

 

“The ability to offer branded gift cards, loyalty cards and/or pre-paid cards can help differentiate SMEs from their competitors, provide customers with a more modern form of gifting, and finally boost their local marketing. Further, our customers don’t have time for added complexities, hence the development of an informative website, which is designed to keep things as simple for them as possible.”

 

Tailored to smaller merchants

 

Business owners can place an online order for packs of cards from as few as 100 and carriers, and everything else is managed for them, from the application to card design and fulfilment, and terminal updates and billing, the company added.

 

Peter Moss, partner in North East London saddlery and horse equipment retailer Janette Moss Horse Wear, endorsed the system. He said: “The Elavon gift card service is a much neater system compared with our previous paper voucher scheme. We have been using this for over a year now, enabling us to cut out admin and making it an easier process for all. Our customers love it.”
