The role of multichannel at the heart of retail operations with more of a European flavour

The role of multichannel at the heart of retail operations with more of a European flavour

Retail Business Technology Expo and Cards & Payments Solutions 2012, Europe’s fastest growing retail expo, recently announced it is partnering with the UK e-retail trade body, Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG), for its 2012 event, to further strengthen the expo’s multichannel and e-commerce focus.

IMRG’s primary support for Retail Business Technology Expo and Cards & Payments Solutions will be its involvement with the content for the multichannel seminar programme. This year’s show will feature 100 seminar sessions, with at least 50 dedicated to multichannel.

Another new development for the 2012 event will see IMRG using Retail Business Technology Expo and Cards & Payments Solutions as the platform to host the annual general meeting (AGM) for the European Multichannel and Online Trade Association (EMOTA).

European cross-channel focus

EMOTA is the European trade organisation that represents all aspects of distance selling in general and e-commerce in particular. On behalf of its 20 member associations, EMOTA advocates a barrier-free European single market for distance sales and collaborates with business partners that actively encourage cross-border distance selling across the European territory as a whole. IMRG is hosting EMOTA’s AGM and also a board meeting at the expo within the meeting area in its International Pavilion.

“We are very pleased to be supporting Retail Business Technology Expo and Cards & Payments Solutions in 2012 as we found last year’s to be a highly valuable and informative networking event for our members and the retail industry as a whole,” commented David J Smith, IMRG chief marketing and communications officer.

“Last year’s launch showcased the very latest innovations in technology solutions, and gave e-businesses a valuable opportunity to share their experiences of operating in the world’s most competitive e-commerce market.”

Smith added: “Multichannel is going to form a critical part of the event in 2012, as retailers with multiple channels are continuing to drive the market forward. With the expo’s increased focus on Europe, including the Hosted Buyer programme and the International Pavilion, it’s also provided us with the ideal venue to host the EMOTA AGM.”

Nick Field, Retail Business Technology Expo and Cards & Payments Solutions event director, said” “As internet retailing and multichannel are of central importance to all significant retailers and because of the heavy focus on it at the event, Retail Business Technology Expo and Cards & Payments Solutions form the leading retail multichannel event in the UK. The strength of the event is that puts multichannel where it belongs – at the very heart of retail operations. We’re also delighted to be able to provide the ideal platform for IMRG to host the EMOTA AGM, and are looking forward to seeing so many European visitors at the show.”

Retail Business Technology Expo and Cards & Payments Solutions will take place from 13 to 14 March 2012 at London’s Earls Court, South Hall (more details are available at RetailTechnology.co.uk's events listings.
