Sandwich chain picks homegrown IT solution for worldwide business intelligence

Sandwich chain picks homegrown IT solution for worldwide business intelligence

Subway has announced a multi-year, global relationship with UK-based IT solutions developer, PXtech.

The partnership will deliver new management tools to the nearly 35,000 Subway stores worldwide, including PXtech's PXportal business intelligence system.

The implementation of the PXportal system technology will provide Subway franchisees with online access to real-time data from their electronic point-of-sale (EPoS) systems across multiple stores.

The use of PXtech’s systems are anticipated to deliver significant benefits to all involved as Thys Van Hout, Subway chief technology officer, confirmed: “We’re delighted to be working with PXtech – the implementation of PXtech’s system is the ideal addition to our exciting and fast-moving technology programme and provides excellent tools for helping our restaurant owners to manage their business.”

Expanding retail install base

The specialist UK-based IT solutions company PXtech, which creates tailored programmes to provide organisations with a clear, accurate and real time view of business performance, will see it used in the North American market as well within its existing European hospitality, retail, education and local authority client base.

Richard Dorf, PXtech managing director, commented on the Subway deal: “One of the crucial success factors for growing franchises is brand consistency and having a clear view of the detailed business performance data from each store. PXportal affords vendors online access to real-time data from their EPoS systems spread over multiple sites, which will give them fantastic opportunities to drive sales, detect anomalies and eliminate wastage.

“The roll-out is being heralded as very welcome news by Subway and its franchisees, which is reflected in the fact that over 11,000 stores have already joined the service and we’re seeing many thousands of hits daily on the site.”

Subway also announced last week that it was looking to become one of the first global franchise organisations to consolidate on a single mobile platform.
