UK-wide rollout is accompanied by launch of new smartphone app to improve customer experience

UK videogames retailer GAME has announced it is creating a new environment for gamers to interact and discover new titles in with free Wi-Fi access in its 341 stores.

In partnership with BT, GAME said the move would allow it to showcase its full range of gaming content, both online and instore, through a multi-platform, multichannel shopping experience.

Mobile app integrates store experience

GAME customers will also be able download a free smartphone app instore - via a quick response (QR) code -  to give them access to product reviews, videos, news and special offers while browsing.

Together with live interactive demonstrations on store consoles, the partners said this provides a seamless shopping experience for gamers. Customers will be able to research products online, before and during store visits, to make a purchase.

New levels of customer engagement

Martyn Gibbs, chief executive of GAME Retail, said: “The introduction of instore Wi-Fi signals a new level of customer experience and a major step towards achieving our vision of delivering excellence for the UK gaming community.

“Just as in the music and home movie market, online has revolutionised the way we discover and access new video games. As a company we are constantly evolving, listening to our customers and adapting our approach to deliver for them.”

The BT Wi-Fi offering will be rolled-out in time for the peak Christmas period.
