Airport shopping retailer achieves savings within first year of outsourcing print requirements

Airport shopping retailer achieves savings within first year of outsourcing print requirements

World Duty Free Group (WDFG) has saved £100,000 in just 12 months, after taking on new managed print services.

Alternative to printer fleet replacement

The outsourcing move followed an audit of WDFG’s ageing printer fleet, which was proving expensive to run and extremely unreliable, conducted by digital print hardware, software, solutions and services integrator Xeretec.

Under the terms of the agreement, Xeretec has supplied 120 new print devices at multiple, high-security locations including WDFG’s distribution centre, at all UK airports (including landside offices and airside stores) and its High Street store. The company has also assumed responsibility for maintaining these under a managed print service, which has seen WDFG move to a standardised print infrastructure.

On-site specialist technical resource

The supplier is also assisting WDFG with an on-site specialist technical resource, which has already resulted in a significant reduction in printer downtime and incoming calls to WDFG’s internal IT support resource.

Debbie Murray, WDFG retail project manager, commented: “As well as boosting efficiency, without a doubt the new printers have dramatically reduced the cost per page price. Xeretec completely grasped our needs and did not stop in its quest to overcome process and logistical obstacles and challenges.”
