Mobile, social and personalised e-gift card programme hits the UK market just in time for Christmas shopping

Comet has just announced the launch of a new e-gift card programme in the UK, offering personalised digital gifting experience.

Designed to allow customers to create digital gifts personalised with messages and photos, the scheme enables consumers to now send e-gift cards via email, Facebook or a mobile device.

Timed to respond to demand

With the new e-gifting platform provided by CashStar, the specialist electrical retailer with 240 UK stores is aiming to drive incremental revenue during the critical Christmas sales season.

“E-gift cards are increasingly popular in the consumer electronics industry and we’re seeing a growing demand from our customers,” said Scott Evenden, corporate sales general manager at Comet.

“With Christmas less than three months away, enhancing the digital and mobile gift experience is one of our top priorities. CashStar’s digital gifting makes it possible for us to offer customers unique personalisation features, a fantastic recipient experience and end-to-end mobile optimisation.”

Brand becomes early UK adopter

Comet is the first UK retailer to join CashStar’s retailer network that includes more than 250 brands in the US and Canada including The Body Shop, Gap, Groupon, T.G.I. Friday’s, Pottery Barn, Staples, and Starbucks.

Mobile coupon and gift voucher technology developer, Eagle Eye, provides integration services with Comet’s existing point-of-sale (PoS) systems to enable instore and online real-time validation and redemption of the e-gift cards.

The CashStar platform will give Comet access to its fraud management and content management systems, as well as personalisation features and integration with the Passbook app introduced with Apple’s iOS 6 platform.

Passbook enables allow consumers to add their e-gift cards to their Apple device and its location-based capabilities also offer the option to receive notifications when they are near retail locations where their e-gifts can be redeemed.
