Five-year human resources (HR) business process outsourcing contract to benefit employees across its global business

Five-year human resources (HR) business process outsourcing contract to benefit employees across its global business

Unilever has awarded a new five-year contract to Accenture for the IT company to provide human resources (HR) business process outsourcing (BPO) services.

The contract will serve more than 130,000 Unilever employees in over 100 countries and introduce a series of service improvements focused on enhancing the user experience. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Under the contract terms, Accenture will work with Unilever to continue to improve the quality and effectiveness of its HR services. The scope of the contract includes recruitment, reward and core HR administration. It also covers learning services, including content sourcing and development, programme planning and delivery, learning system hosting and payroll administration, as well as other management and administrative services.

Enhancing employee skills and abilities

Teo Correia, a senior managing director in Accenture’s consumer goods and services practice who leads Accenture’s work with Unilever, stated that the contract renewal represented a new milestone in Accenture’s 10-year collaboration with Unilever.

She said: “Unilever strives continually to find new ways of improving its HR function to enhance the skills and abilities of its global workforce and this contract is key to achieving future success and higher performance.”

Accenture said it would align its service delivery with Unilever’s Talent Agenda initiative, which reflects the manufacturer’s key business priorities. A number of examples it cited included performance goals based on Unilever’s business targets, over and above traditional operational service-level agreements (SLAs), and a more proactive recruiting approach, encompassing social media and more forecasting-led methods to deliver a broader, more appropriate candidate pool.

The new agreement also aligns HR services with Unilever’s sustainability agenda. Learning programmes will make greater use of virtual instructor-led training (VILT), while recruitment services will increase the use of technology where possible to reduce environmental costs.
