Hunting, fishing, camping and outdoor gear retailer invests in pricing and markdown optimisation software

Cabela’s, a leading US speciality retailer, recently revealed it has entered into a multi-year agreement with Revionics to use the provider’s lifecycle price optimisation software.

Cabela’s will deploy Revionics’ Price Optimisation software-as-a-service (SaaS) for base price management and optimisation and Revionics Markdown Optimisation SaaS to maximise margins and sell-through.

Right time, right channel

Brian Linneman, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer of Cabela’s, said the pricing lifecycle management investment would support the specialist outdoor retailer’s multichannel operations.

“Revionics has the optimisation technology to ensure we offer our customers the right price and markdowns, at the right time, through the right channel – whether it be through our catalogue, online, in-store, or mobile,” Linneman said. “We look forward to partnering with Revionics to improve our multichannel strategies, increase the productivity of our workforce and continue to enhance our processes.”

Meeting multichannel demand

Cabela’s will use the demand-based predictive analytics of the software to more accurately evaluate and forecast consumer shopping behaviour across all touchpoints and channels to offer the right price and markdowns to customers for optimal customer loyalty and competitiveness.

The software will also be used to enhance and align Cabela’s price strategies with its category and corporate financial goals, enabling further markdown localisation adapted to market conditions, inventory levels and shopper preferences.
