Fine wine merchant uses fulfillment integration with third-party logistics provider to improve warehouse efficiency and customer satisfaction

Fine wine merchant uses fulfillment integration with third-party logistics provider to improve warehouse efficiency and customer satisfaction

Tanners Wines is using a parcel carrier integration system to streamline its order fulfilment with money-saving automation and efficiencies.

Using NetDespatch, Tanners Wines has integrated its Maginus warehouse management system (WMS) with its parcel carrier and APC Overnight depot, Station Couriers.

Eliminating manual input

The integration allows order details to be transferred instantly and accurately, eliminating the need for manual data entry, which reduces administration costs and the risk of human error while improving service.

Tanners Wines ship thousands of bottles of wine, champagne and spirits each month and staff had been entering consignment details manually, with a time-consuming process that was prone to human error. It used NetDespatch’s Velocity Connector web-based import and labelling technology to import order data from the Maginus WMS. This allows for labels and shipping documentation to be instantly printed, ready for the local APC Overnight depot to collect. Tracking information is then available to be viewed online.

NetDespatch’s integration experts evaluated the process at Tanners to establish the solution that would provide the maximum efficiency. The system it subsequently provided means that when an order is processed at the company’s Welshpool distribution centre, the label is automatically printed.

Maximising multichannel integration

Selling to both private and trade customers, Tanners uses various online sales and mail order channels in order to make its good widely available to its customers.

“Reliable delivery and tracking services are vital in maintaining good customer relations and the integration by NetDespatch with our Maginus Warehouse Management System is saving us a huge amount of time,” said Nick Hamer, Tanners Wines finance director.

“With an increasing volume of orders, our pick-and-pack operation was being held up as we tried to cope with data entry. Now with automated data export and label printing, improved efficiency and greater address accuracy have really helped boost service levels,” he said.
