Busy farm shop gets Touch PoS

New Toshiba point of sale helps to improve customer checkout times and increase profitability for Becketts of Wythall

Becketts Farm Shop in Wythall, Birmingham, has adopted a new flexible Toshiba electronic point-of-sale (EPoS) system from local EPoS provider Cunninghams.

The all-in-one system incorporates Toshiba ST-A10 touchscreens with Cunningham’s Absolute.PoS software and has enabled five shopping lanes for checkouts and one fast-track lane for payment of sandwiches to be added, following a major refurbishment and expansion of Becketts Farm Shop.

Consolidating faster checkout process

The farm shop, which provides customers with fresh local and quality produce combined with special extras from further afield, previously required its customers to pay for products in individual departments where a cash register system was used.

The Toshiba EPoS has the advantage of being hardwearing and easy to maintain, featuring a click release system on its outer casing, allowing the user to replace key components such as hard disk drive, memory and power supply, reducing downtime and the need for service visits.

Growing with varied business needs

The Absolute.PoS touchscreen software is able to adapt to the busy and varied Becketts business environment. It has an on-site bakery, expert butchers and greengrocers, a deli, hot food take-away and sandwich bar, plus florist and gift shop.

The software’s drop-down on screen menus may be added to without filling up space or cluttering up the system, to growth with business needs. And it has the capacity to provide exceptional reporting and management of rewards for customer loyalty schemes.

Ian Comer, Becketts retail manager, commented: “The combination of innovative technology from the Toshiba ST-A10 and clever software is already showing higher turnover and profit margins due to more accurate reporting through back-office software. Within 14 months the solution will have paid for itself.”
