The Entertainer gets on board with Shutl

By Retail Technology | Monday April 29 2013

Retailer adapts e-commerce software extension to accommodate speedier delivery and enhanced online customer service delivery features

UK independent toy retailer, The Entertainer, has announced the launch of Shutl delivery to its customers nationwide using a new software extension, developed by neoworks, based on the hybris Commerce Suite.

Shutl, the online branded web service enabling online shoppers to get what they want – either within minutes or at a time of their choice – operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and allows customers to watch their deliveries, available whenever an Entertainer store is open, in real time on a GPS enabled map.

Capitalising on e-commerce platform

The Entertainer was keen to build on its existing multichannel infrastructure, operating on the hybris Commerce Suite. It approached Shutl to improve its delivery offering and Shutl engaged e-commerce consultancy and systems provider neoworks to design and build a Shutl extension that could be made available to other retailers on the hybris platform.

The neoworks module is now also available through the hybris Extend marketplace, and provides instant access to fully certified partner applications and extension modules. This enabled The Entertainer to quickly integrate Shutl into its online customer experience.

“Shutl offers The Entertainer's customers a speed of delivery unrivalled in the Toy retail industry. Building on our store estate and multi-channel infrastructure this new service cements our position as the country's leading online Toy Retailer,” said Duncan Grant, director of multichannel at The Entertainer.

Setting new experience benchmark

Tom Allason, founder and chief executive of Shutl, commented: “This is the most sophisticated Shutl implementation to date, setting a new benchmark in online customer experience.  It’s a case study in how multichannel retailers can leverage their key assets to delight customers with an unbeatable proposition.  We are very excited to partner with Duncan and his team to help give The Entertainer’s customers what they want, when they want it.”

Nigel Atkinson, neoworks director and co-founder, added: “This implementation improves The Entertainer’s multichannel offer, allowing them to gain a competitive advantage by delivering an unparalleled customer experience.”

Neoworks has been The Entertainer's strategic multichannel technology partner since 2009, during which time the retailer has achieved over 30% year-on-year growth online. The Entertainer plans to continue to grow the business significantly online over the next five years, both in the UK and internationally.
