TOSHIBA TEC provides new point-of-sale systems (PoS) for Farmfoods

TOSHIBA TEC provides new point-of-sale systems (PoS) for Farmfoods

Farmfoods, the frozen food specialists, has worked with TOSHIBA TEC to improve its PoS systems in store. Farmfoods, originally founded in 1955, has over 300 stores throughout mainland UK.

Critical to the success of Farmfoods is the ability to serve the largest amount of customers in the shortest amount of time. The growth of the business meant that Farmfoods had outgrown their existing electronic cash register (ECR) system and realised that to maintain success they needed to improve their PoS solutions.

“We had four key criteria in our search for an up to date POS solution: reliability, a flexible platform, low energy consumption and of course price,” said Mark Haggerty, Farmfoods IT manager.

Farmfoods conducted a thorough review of current market offerings through live trials and bench testing products from IBM, J2, Partnertec, Digipos, Sharp and NCR before finally choosing to invest in TOSHIBA TEC’s ST-A10 with TRST-A15 dual receipt printer.

Performance and brand prove persuasive

“Toshiba ticked all our requirement boxes,” added Haggerty. “The product is a competitively priced high performer. We also have the added benefit of the TOSHIBA brand, which for us equals quality and reliability.”

Just over 900 ST-A10 with TRST-A15 dual receipt printers were seamlessly installed prior to one of the company’s busiest trading periods. The products’ small footprint and matching ECRs worked well with the store’s clean, uncluttered image. The ST-A10 also allows Farmfoods to run their in-house software and has enabled quick throughput of customers, faster than the previous system. Added to this, the retailer is benefiting from real-time stock and sales information, as well as improved cash security through greater visibility.

“We are particularly pleased with the low power consumption of TOSHIBA TEC’s ST-A10. Here at Farmfoods we take our environmental responsibilities very seriously and always ensure that our appliances are energy efficient,” concluded Haggerty.
