U.S. Polo Assn. adds online fitting room

By Retail Technology | Tuesday December 10 2013

American clothing brand adopts technology that allows consumers to ensure their best fit online and improve satisfaction levels, increasing sales and decreasing returns

Classic American clothing brand, U.S. Polo Assn., has partnered with Mipso, a developer of digital size prediction and virtual fitting room solutions for the fashion retail industry.

The new arrangement will bring Mipso’s proprietary FiT technology to U.S. Polo Assn.’s online shopping website, allowing its consumers to virtually 'try on' potential purchases, reducing returns, increasing sales and improving the online shopping experience.

FiT is a white label technology that has been designed to enable online shoppers to find their perfect size for every garment available online. Based on advanced algorithms that match each shopper’s personal measurements with the digital specifications of each garment, FiT finds the best ‘size match’ for each consumer.

Reducing returns, increasing customer satisfaction

Its developer said in a recent trial the technology increased basket size by 52%, while decreasing returns by 64%, compared to the industry standard.

"U.S. Polo Assn. has always been committed to bringing quality and value to the consumer, and Mipso’s willingness to allow us to collaborate in customizing their technology meant we could preserve the integrity of the U.S. Polo Assn. brand, while significantly adding to our consumer offering, said Matt Debnar, of the U.S. Polo Assn brand and JRA Trademark Co., a division of Jordache.

“Mipso is the perfect fit for helping U.S. Polo Assn. Brand, to recreate the instore experience for our shoppers online, making online shopping more enjoyable, and enabling our customers to buy more confidently and effectively.”

U.S. Polo Assn. is the official brand of sports governing body, the United States Polo Association, and sells its branded clothing via an e-commerce channel and a number of branded stores, outlets and concessions.
