Splendia implements online gift cards

By Retail Technology | Wednesday December 11 2013

Social payment system strengthens e-commerce offering of luxury hotel portal offering one-off or group transactions to bring gifting to online reservations

Splendia, a Spanish-based online booking portal for luxury and character hotels, has chosen the BuyBox social payment system to strengthen its e-commerce offering.

Splendia.com users can now create gift cards alone or as a group in a simple, fast and secure way. As a group, each guest can contribute to the gift regardless of geographical location. Once the money has been collected, the gift card is offered to the beneficiary, who can use it as a payment method to purchase their reservation.

“It was time for us to provide a gift card service for our customers,” said Guillaume Rostand, Splendia marketing director. “With BuyBox, we have been able to deploy the solution quickly to take advantage of innovative features such as social payment.”

Added customer service flexibility

The white label system enables merchants to brand the new payment facility and integrate it into their existing e-commerce processes. Elie de Coignac, chief executive and founder of Splendia, commented: “We appreciate end-to-end support and the real concern of BuyBox to respond to our demand. The team was able to address our concerns in the operational implementation. BuyBox has adapted its solution, which has a guarantee of flexibility.”

Rostand also said the implementation would also enhance other customer service capabilities. “This is the first step in the deployment of new features on Splendia.com. We want to propose a travel experience rather than a simple booking service,” he added. “Moreover, we intend to integrate other features developed by BuyBox, especially relating to wishlists or to Facebook.”
