Newegg expands into Ireland

By Retail Technology | Thursday August 14 2014

The online tech retailer has also launched online stores in India, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland and Singapore

Online technology marketplace Newegg has extended its e-commerce website to online shoppers in Ireland, the latest step in an ongoing effort of global expansion by the U.S.-based company.

Previously, Newegg had only been available for online purchases to customers in the U.S, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.

Growing selection of products

As with Newegg’s recent expansion into the United Kingdom and Australia, the new Irish store will have a limited selection of products to start, but availability will continue to grow in the coming months.

Customers are encouraged to shop and provide feedback, which the retailer says will help shape the continued improvement of Newegg’s global presence.

“We’re excited to continue bringing the Newegg service, products and deals to a wider, more global audience,” said Soren Mills, chief marketing officer of Newegg North America. “We’re committed to growing Newegg’s international presence so people from all around the world can experience the shopping experience our North American customers currently enjoy.”

Multilingual support

Newegg also added multilingual customer service to address any language barriers that may be involved in a transaction. This support is available 24/7, serving customers for whom English is not their native language.

The feature allows a customer to chat in their native language, which is translated instantly for Newegg’s customer service representatives. Responses composed in English are then translated into the customer’s language. The service offers Polish and Dutch language options, with more language support to come as Newegg increases its global presence.

Filtering

When visiting the Newegg homepage, customers in Ireland can select their country and currency from drop-down menus on Newegg.com. Clicking the ‘Newegg Global’ banner in the top left navigation menu shows the products available in the specified region.

Alternatively, international customers shopping a product sub-category, such as Desktop PCs under the PCs & Laptops category, can select the ‘Newegg Global Eligible’ filter to view only those products that ship internationally.

Eligible items added to the Shopping Cart display estimated tax, duty and shipping charges before the customer enters billing information and completes their order.
