Co-op taking checkout to the cloud

Co-op taking checkout to the cloud
Friday October 7 2016

Convenience store chain Co-op is simplifying processes at the checkout with new cloud-based software

It has signed a deal with Promotional Payments Solutions (PPS) to introduce ‘Promopay’ at its stores.
The software will be rolled out across all Co-op food stores and will offer real-time services to ensure coupons, vouchers and customer offers satisfy all promotion conditions, including basket rules.
Louise Hoste, director of customer offer and community at the Co-op, said: “Customers and members are at the heart of the Co-op, and this new system – which greatly improves the processes that we use for coupons and vouchers, will help to improve our customer service offering.”

PromoPay’s stored value module also enables Co-op to introduce a variety of prepaid products and incorporates a technology platform for its electronic business accounts services allowing it to grow its presence in the community.
Hoste added: “The Co-op currently accepts 16 million coupons with a value of £12m per annum so this investment will significantly update the way in which we can process coupons.”
