Amazon one-click patent to expire

Amazon one-click patent to expire
Wednesday January 4 2017

The US patent for Amazon’s one-click purchasing capability is due to expire in September

According to Forbes, the patent was granted in 1999, but applied for in 1997, and expires 20 years after the patent filing date which was 12 September 1997.

The patent expiration means that other retailers will be able to use the one-click function without having to license it from Amazon as Apple has done since 2000 for Apple Pay and other services.
