Recommendation technology specialist signs up fashion e-tailer Coggles.com in a move that grows its presence in the online apparel market

 

Following a three-month trial period, Coggles.com has now fully adopted the Peerius Recommendation Engine, which uses a variety of methods to generate personalised product recommendations for each potential customer.

 

Acting as a virtual shop assistant, the technology builds individual profiles for each visitor using their browsing behaviour history. This improved targeting allows the customer to make better-informed decisions, which in turn, enhances their shopping experience and encourages them to return and make repeat purchases.

 

Exposing more of product range

 

Richard Hatfield, operations manager at Coggles commented: “We decided to investigate recommendation technology because we recognised the value in making it as easy as possible for customers to find what they are looking for. We also saw the benefit to increasing the length of time customers stay on our website. And finally, we recognised recommendation software as a potentially useful way of introducing customers to new brands that they may not previously have been aware of.

 

“We chose to work with Peerius because it is the market leader in this technology and has a proven track record within our industry.”

 

Roger Brown, chief executive at Peerius added: “Recommendation technology can transform both the consumer’s shopping experience and a retailer’s ability to up and cross sell and to refine it’s product offering.

 

“For sites using our technology we would typically expect to see online sales increase by around 10% although this can increase to 20% depending on the site and the business sector.”

 

Peerius has recently commissioned a white paper entitled ‘The Power of Recommendation,’ written by Dr Mike Baxter and Dr Andreas S. Weigend, who are both experts in the field of e-commerce and data strategy.
