UK arm of global brewers adopts electronic trading network to improve efficiency of key customer accounts administration

Miller Brands, a UK subsidiary of SABMiller, one of the world's largest brewers, has signed a three-year contract with trade and logistics supplier, Kewill, to manage and support electronic communications with its network of trading partners.

The project will see Kewill deploy its Kewill MessageBroker integration-as-a-service (IaaS) software together with its Kewill Xchange managed file transfer service, to create an integrated trading partner communications platform for Miller Brands, which is responsible for the development of all SABMiller’s international premium brands across the UK and Ireland. Kewill added that it will also provide professional services to manage the transition for trading partners from the existing system, and full management and support going forward.

Supply chain systems integration

The solution will enable Miller Brands to trade electronically with its network of trading partners, who include Booker, JD Wetherspoon, Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsbury’s, using one simple interface to exchange supply chain documentation such as orders, advanced shipping notices and invoices in each partner’s preferred protocol. It will integrate directly with Miller Brands’ existing SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, improving efficiency by allowing the straight-through processing of all relevant data.

Steve Higgs, technology and process manager at Miller Brands, commented: “The Kewill solution will enable us to streamline communications with our trading partners, introducing significant resource efficiencies but more importantly, giving us greater visibility of our supply chain. Kewill’s drinks sector experience made them the obvious choice.”
