Retailer’s online store emulates in-store visual experience for customers with appointment of Adobe Scene7

Debenhams has appointed Adobe Scene7 to improve rich media imaging functionality throughout its online shop; emulating the in-store experience by allowing consumers to view fine detail of products from all angles.

Product images across all categories of Debenhams’ website – including menswear, home furnishings, health and beauty, lingerie and children’s clothing – now feature zoom viewers, which enable consumers to view intricate detail down to stitches on items of clothing and the ‘feel’ of materials. A deep level of zoom and alternative views have been integrated into the site.

Adobe Scene7 imaging technology is part of the ongoing revamp of Debenhams.com. The site re-launched in November last year, and following the improved rich media functionality and additional site alterations has since reported a double-digit sales uplift.

Immediate benefits of functionality

“Customer satisfaction with the new site is up and we’ve had feedback that users love the new ability to zoom in on products and get a much better feel for what they are buying prior to purchase,” said Brett Bennett, senior web manager at Debenhams. “Our aim is to increase satisfaction and make our online experience as good as it can be. Scene7 technology is essential to making that happen.”

Debenhams also has plans to increase its use of video on the site using Adobe Scene7.

“Independent research by Foresee Results shows that customer satisfaction is key to driving revenues and loyalty, and that the intelligent use of rich media to improve customer experience has the greatest influence on increasing satisfaction levels,” said Sheila Dahlgren, senior director of product marketing at Adobe. “Debenhams is an excellent example of this. Typical revenue increases for Adobe Scene7 clients reach 30%.”
