Connected World at IBC2010 presentation line-up announced

September 9, 2010

Industry majors to present at the Connected World Business Briefings and Demonstration Sessions

The final line-up of presentations within the Connected World at IBC2010 has been announced. The schedule features a series of Business Briefings, Demonstrations and “Armchair Revolutionary” sessions, which include presentations from many of the industry’s leading players. All sessions take place in “The Hub” within the Connected World and are free-to-attend for all IBC2010 visitors.

Subjects addressed within the Connected World Business Briefings include: digital signage trends, the changing nature of TV viewing, the convergence of TV and telecoms, and content discovery in a multi-channel/platform landscape. Independent consultants and editors of leading industry publications, such as Retail Technology, IBE and C2M, will chair the Business Briefing sessions. And senior executives from major companies including Ericsson, Harris, Future Software, ONELAN, TV Genius, Dolby, Arqiva, the Open IPTV Forum and W3C will present.

Multi-dimensional information forum

The ‘Armchair Revolutionary’ sessions – daily from Friday to Monday – will explore what consumers are doing today and anticipate what they may do tomorrow; the technologies they are using to connect and the likely impact on business models for the broadcast industry. The sessions include an introduction to connected TV and cover such subjects as emerging technologies and changing business models. Participating companies include: Ingenious Media, Informa, Ogilvy, NDS and Harmonic.

Throughout the exhibition, the ‘Demo Stage @ The Hub’ will host demonstrations that illustrate how broadcast content is already being managed, distributed and consumed across diverse consumer electronic devices in the new Connected World. Companies featured include Intel, Wecomm, beeTV, Rubberduck and Neptuny.

Hot-topic debate and discussion

In addition, TelecomTV, which transformed business-to-business communications when it launched the first-ever online TV channel dedicated to the global ICT sector in 2001, will also host a series of insightful panel discussions and interviews from the Connected World Hub. Amongst the companies scheduled to be participating are News International, Capgemini, Eircom and Microsoft.

The Connected World at IBC2010 incorporates the highly successful Internet Protocol (IP) TV, Mobile and Digital Signage Zones that have been established at IBC over the last few years and will showcase some of the latest developments in connected consumer electronic devices. Together these technologies are set to change the face of broadcasting and revolutionise many of the established business models on which the industry has been built. Occupying Hall 9, the Connected World at IBC2010 provides a unique opportunity to explore the exciting opportunities being created by the spread of IP, broadband and mobile networks.

The Connected World at IBC2010 is being jointly developed and marketed by IBC, IT Europa and BPL. The IBC2010 exhibition takes place from 10 to 14 September 2010 at the RAI, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Visitors to the Connected World Hub will also have the opportunity to win one of five 32GB WiFi+3G iPads by entering a daily draw and correctly answering the question of the day.
