An ‘Oasis’ of technology wins retail technology award for fashion retailer
Fashion retailer, Oasis, has been awarded “Retail Technology Initiative of the Year” for the launch of its iPhone Application at the Oracle Retail Week Awards 2010, dubbed the ‘High Street Oscars’.
Oasis fought off stiff competition from the grocery and electrical sectors to be awarded the accolade for its iPhone app, which was designed to enhance the shopper experience.
Increased engagement and interaction
The app also enables increased engagement with customers as smartphones play an increasing part in how they live their lives. The application was downloaded 24,549 times over a four-month period, providing Oasis with a new sales platform and communication tool, while enabling their customers to shop and find out about the latest trends through their iPhone whilst on the move.
Tim Danaher, editor of Retail Week said: “Mobile commerce is set to play a really big role in retailing in years to come, and with the development of this iPhone app, Oasis really is ahead of the game. Their success shows that technological innovation in retail isn’t just about introducing complex new systems, and that relatively small but imaginative projects like this can have a real impact by capturing the imagination of customers.”
Sarah Taylor, Oracle Retail industry director, added: “These important awards recognise the achievements of those individuals and organisations that make British retail great. Oracle is committed to supporting the development of excellence, innovation, creativity and agility within retail businesses and we offer our congratulations to Oasis for this accolade.”
