Inditex High Street brand gets highly anticipated e-commerce launch across five European countries
Spanish clothing retailer Zara has opened a new online store in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and the UK.
The group already sells a home range online, but the new, updated website will offer fashion lines that have only been available in its stores until now.
High Street catches up online
The Spanish retailer announced last month it would be extending the fashion brand online.
Although Inditex overtook Gap as the world's biggest clothing retailer by sales, Gap and Banana Republic also started taking online sales outside the US for the first time last month. Meanwhile H&M is expected to follow in the next two weeks.
Inditex chief executive, Pablo Isla, stated: "Customers should expect the launching of online selling for the group's other brands in coming years."
It is forecasting a 10% rise in revenue from its new online fashion store.
