Cloud-based international address lookup service for e-commerce sites and online apps launches to support international business activity

Cloud-based international address lookup service for e-commerce sites and online apps launches to support international business activity

World Addresses Web – a hosted, cloud-based application designed to enable international customers to speed up address entry through online postcode-based verification – has launched by WorldAddresses.com, the address management company that also developed a portfolio of products under the UK PostCoder.com banner.

The product has launched with keyword, zip code and postcode-based address lookup searching for the UK, US, France and Germany with additional countries being added on a rolling basis over the coming months. World Addresses Web said it would allow businesses that have previously only been able to process domestic address information online, be that on an e-commerce website or an internal system, to open up their activities to a broader range of territories.

World Addresses Web is an international cloud-based service that delivers address data directly into any ecommerce website or online application. The service targets businesses that currently, or plan to, import and export in addition to aiding large mailing houses and postal operators with significant volumes of incoming or outgoing international mail. The service also helps small businesses that need to check an international address in-house.

Customer recognition goes global

Emma Gooderham, managing director of WorldAddresses.com, said: “The demand for accurate, easy-to-use international address look-up is increasing rapidly. Any business failing to exploit current exchange rates is missing a major opportunity. Simply adding this technology to an existing e-commerce site can open up huge new markets and opportunities. UK Enterprise should not be missing out on what can be a simple, low-cost opportunity to export into new markets, increasing business opportunity. Indeed, the Global Address Data Association has recently been set up to address postal inefficiencies and help improve international postal delivery.”

The World Addresses Web service outputs addresses in the Universal Postal Union (UPU) ‘Standard S42’ format. The service provider said this internationally-recognised address format has been agreed with each postal operator involved, so customers can be confident their checked cross-border mail will be processed as efficiently as possible, to ensure delivery is fast, and that it can get to the addressee first time.

The product is available in the UK, US, Germany and France from the World Addresses Web site on a free 21-day trial basis. The company said pricing is on a pay-as-you-go basis, based upon whether it is used in internal systems or websites – starting at £50 per credit pack.
