RedPrairie will discuss how transportation management systems (TMS) can be an effective tool to meet the challenges arising from a tough economic climate at the upcoming Logistics Link South event.

Andrew Kirkwood, RedPrairie senior vice president and executive director, said: “At a time when it is vital for businesses to reduce cost and increase efficiencies, RedPrairie’s solutions can help companies keep their goods moving, enable employees to work more effectively, and reduce transport costs. Depending on the company’s current situation, a TMS could help save up to 20-40% of costs associated with process improvement and administration.”

For example, Fleet Management, an integrated module of RedPrairie’s Transportation Management system, is deigned to optimise daily routing and scheduling of pick-up and delivery for private and dedicated fleets. Through load balancing and stop assignment, Fleet Management can help ensure efficient capacity utilisation, making it possible to serve more customers each day and potentially reducing the number of vehicles in operation.

Full suite has joined-up efficiencies in its sights

COPLEX, RedPrairie’s continuous planning and execution engine, also constantly evaluates orders, fulfilment requirements, capacity limitations and other constraints to automatically generate the most effective, lowest cost plan.

Transportation Management also offers the advantage of integration with RedPrairie’s Warehouse Management suite, providing workflow processing that makes fulfilment and logistics a single, coordinated function. Integration to legacy and third party systems is also available.

Visitors to Logistics Link South will also be able to talk to RedPrairie experts about the benefits that can be achieved with RedPrairie’s Workforce Management solution, which helps organisations improve productivity in their distribution centres.

RedPrairie will be available on stand 1 at Logistics Link South, Sandown Park, Esher, from 2nd to 3rd February 2010.
