Retailing giant extends acquiring service provision in the UK and Ireland

Tesco has become the latest business to renew its commercial partnership with UK payments acquirer, WorldPay.

The contract renewal means that Streamline, which is responsible for WorldPay’s face-to-face payments, will continue to provide Tesco with its Visa card acquiring service for its stores across the UK and the Republic of Ireland and for its Tesco.com services.

The provider said Tesco re-appointed WorldPay based on its ability to provide a robust and efficient service capable of meeting its high transaction volume requirements and reliable support at all times.

Michael Fletcher, corporate procurement director at Tesco, commented: “As the UK’s largest retailer, it is critical that the acquiring service we use is capable of handling the large volumes of card transactions that we experience on a daily basis and able to offer reliable support to us at peak trading times. WorldPay’s acquiring service is an ideal fit with our card transaction requirements.”
