Predictix applications are successfully implemented in Mexico and China, as part of roll out across Best Buy’s international operations

It was announced today that Best Buy has successfully deployed merchandise financial planning and item planning applications from Predictix in Mexico and China as part of a broad international rollout.

Best Buy selected Predictix merchandising solutions for all of its international operations, and deployment is currently underway in the UK and Turkey.

The Predictix planning applications design supports Best Buy as the retailer accelerates its growth in the global marketplace. They allow Best Buy to have a consistent, company wide best-practice approach to planning, while maintaining the flexibility to easily configure the application to each country’s local needs.

Modular platform and hosted delivery

The Predictix unified merchandising model also appealed to Best Buy; while the retailer’s current roll outs focus on planning, other modules within the Predictix suite can be added as needed, to provide a unified view across all merchandising decisions.

Best Buy also realised implementing traditional merchandising applications, beyond the high up-front expense of licensing and implementation, would require costly investments in data centres and IT personnel, and would take years to roll out internationally. By contrast, Predictix is delivered through a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, with no large up-front investments.

Supporting international growth

“Predictix enables Best Buy to support our international growth with highly sophisticated planning applications, and without the hefty investments and lengthy timelines of the traditional enterprise software model,” said Neville Roberts, Best Buy chief information officer. “After considering all of the options available to Best Buy, we selected Predictix – and our decision has been borne out by the success we are already seeing with our initial deployments.”

Predictix planning also provides the ability to plan purchase order quantity and auto-execute to Best Buy’s SAP enterprise application with no re-keying. And, with Predictix planning, Best Buy can eliminate the disparate spreadsheets used in each country, replacing them with a disciplined, end-to-end planning process.
