Department store retailer extends acceptance of online payment method to transactional site

John Lewis last week added online payment method PayPal to customers both internationally and in the UK to pay for purchases on www.johnlewis.com, including the version optimised for use on mobile phones.

The payment service says it has 110 million members around the world, including over 15 million in the UK, and a quarter of PayPal’s transactions are across international borders.

Cross border and platform flexibility

Jonathon Brown, head of online at John Lewis, commented: “PayPal’s global customer base and strong cross border experience will help us grow international sales on www.johnlewis.com."

He added: "It will make it easier for our overseas customers to pay for goods online. PayPal is also a good option for our mobile customers, given its expertise in making it easier to pay on mobile devices.
