Value chain is first customer of new version of Futura management software

Factory Shop store Value chain is first customer of new version of Futura management software

Factory Shops has become the first customer to use the latest retail management and point-of-sale (PoS) software from Futura as part of a project to speed up customer sales.

Serving 50,000 customers a week and specialising in seasonal products, from angling equipment to furniture, the value retail chain has chosen the new software for improved transaction performance, as well as robust Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards compliance and stock control expertise, alongside new till hardware.

The Essex-based chain, which notches up 100 sales per minute, will implement Futura across all its stores, including its warehouse and head office, replacing an in-house Linux system it has outgrown. Linked to new Odysse touchscreen tills from Aures' Posligne range, the deployment of Futura is designed to help speed up the customer buying experience and reduce lost sales.

Enhancing resilience and security

Factory Shop staff member at tillTim Virgo, IT manager at Factory Shops, stated: “We hope to improve customer service with Futura by speeding up the sales process, with peace of mind from knowing that tills can run independently if networks are disrupted. In addition, enhanced PoS security features will help protect customer details, minimise fraudulent activity and resolve, as well as reduce stock losses.”

Virgo explained that the company wanted a quality retail system offering good technical support and expertise, to future proof their investment. He added: “So when leisure goods specialists Wilton & Bradley recommended Futura to us, we listened. We believe Futura will support our growth and we chose them for their aftercare to guide us through the maze of legislation and PCI compliance to help us get ahead of the game.”

Factory Shops is also planning to implement Futura’s stock allocation and replenishment options to monitor stock movement and gain full control of stock, as well as capturing customer data at the till and implementing Futura’s loyalty programme.
