Carlsberg selects integrator for SAP roll out

By Retail Technology | Tuesday June 11 2013

Accenture selected by drinks manufacturing giant for new SAP systems integration in Western Europe to improve efficiency and service

Carlsberg, one of the world’s biggest brewery groups, last week announced it had selected the systems integrator (SI) Accenture to deliver a new SAP implementation supporting six functional business areas within Western Europe.

The announcement said that the new single underlying system is designed to improve efficiency and improve customer service throughout Europe. Financial terms of the three-year contract were not disclosed.

Programme of standardisation

With completion anticipated during 2015, it will cover all key markets across Carlsberg’s European operations. The new single system will replace a series of standalone systems currently operating in the region and it will benefit Carlsberg’s sales, finance, production, logistics, procurement and planning functions.

The agreement supports Carlsberg’s ‘Business Standardisation Programme’ and supply chain integration (BSP1), which aims to improve capabilities, customer service and efficiency, increase speed and deliver an improved return on its investments.

Strategic supply chain integration

It also follows two previous agreements between the SI and Carlsberg Breweries A/S, dating back four years. In April 2009 Accenture began supporting Carlsberg's European SAP implementations and delivery of a common enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform. It signed a complementary agreement in January 2011 covering the delivery of applications services to Carlsberg’s European operations.

"We chose Accenture because of their vast industry experience and our track record of successful collaborations with them over recent years,” stated Iain Gow, BSP1 vice president at Carlsberg. “Accenture understands Carlsberg and our focus on the high quality solutions needed to help us achieve our goal of continuous improvement.”

Henrik Rasmussen, a managing director in Accenture’s Consumer Goods & Services practice, added.  “The standardised solution that we intend to deliver will support Carlsberg to launch new products faster and enhance its customer service experience.”
