UK fashion brand aims to reduce basket abandonment at checkout by offering its online customers an additional cash payment facility
Blue Inc. became the latest fashion retailer to sign up with online cash payment provider, Ukash, in time for Christmas last year.
Recognising the importance of giving online customers the convenience, security and choice of paying with cash, shoppers visiting the retailer's e-commerce site now have the option to use Ukash at the checkout.
According to Ukash research completed in spring 2013, 18-24 year olds are the biggest fans of using cash online, with over half favouring this payment option. Additional research into the alternative payments market from payment provider WorldPay found 82% of online shoppers prefer a range of payment options over credit and debit cards.
The addition of the cash payment facility to the Blue Inc. website is, therefore, seen by the retailer as an important tool in reducing basket abandonment at checkout, thereby increasing sales.
Providing inclusive payment options
“Blue Inc. is committed to putting a strong emphasis on the customer experience both in store and online,” said Ajay Nassa, head of e-commerce for Blue Inc.
“By adding a cash payment method to our website, we are eliminating barriers for consumers who would otherwise need to visit our stores to pay with cash. Ukash enables Blue Inc. to be wholly inclusive and we think this is an important differentiator for our brand.”
Developed to enable cash consumers to shop online and protect their personal identity and financial information when making online transactions, shopping with Ukash helps to reduce the threat of credit and debit card fraud for consumers.
Ukash codes are purchased with cash in retail outlets such as shops, petrol stations and kiosks. The unique 19-digit codes can then be used to pay directly on any of the websites that accept Ukash transactions worldwide, or loaded onto prepaid cards and e-wallets.
