Yamamay optimises product design

By Retail Technology | Monday February 17 2014

Collaboration and management software provides Italian intimates retailer with standardised support for an increasingly global supply chain

Yamamay, the leading Italian retail brand in underwear and swimsuits, with over 700 franchised stores, of which 500 in Italy, has successfully implemented the product lifecycle management (PLM) software by TXT e-solutions in order to optimise its design and product development processes.

The retailer needed to rationalise the design process for developing new styles: from collection design to the creation of prototypes, from sample checks to the final manufacturing stage by selected subcontractors. The quality of products and process efficiency, including the management of a wide network of suppliers, are essential for the company, which is enjoying steady growth. Yamamay presently operates through its headquarters in Italy and branches in Germany, Spain and China.

The adoption of the TX PLM software has enabled the company to overcome the typical constraints of a non-centralised management of information, such as time spent on data organisation and consolidation, as well as the complexity connected to code standardisation among different functions.

Optimising workflows, collaboration and access

The software now supports Yamamay in its management of all collection-related information, including data and images. This means all the resources involved in the product design lifecycle can use a single repository, which can be accessed anywhere, including by foreign branches. The streamlined system is also helping in this way to reduced product development times, while integrated workflow management, means workflows are optimised and monitored at each step.

Stefano Piantanida, software development manager at Yamamay, explained that TXT was chosen for its perfect fit with the functional requirements of Yamamay’s business needs, as well as for TXT’s consolidated experience in the fashion and retail industry. “Thanks to the simple and intuitive interface of the solution, the activity of the 85 users involved is facilitated across different regions,” he said.

Simone Pozzi, vice president of sales and marketing at TXT, added: “Yamamay's international growth has been a strong driver in regard to further developing the theme of collaboration between functions and with supply chain partners.”
