Coca-Cola showcases digital retail experience

By Retail Technology | Friday June 20 2014

The multinational beverage corporation gave CineEurope 2014 show visitors a glimpse of the future cinema-going experience

Coca-Cola gave CineEurope 2014 show visitors a peek into the future this week, as it teamed with NEC, YCD Multimedia, Littlebit Technology and Intel to build an interactive lounge.

The Coca-Cola showcase aimed to illustrate how digital media and digital menu boards could be used in cinema installations to offer a unique experience to movie-goers.

“People go to the movie to be entertained and enjoy unique experiences. We have showcased all the digital media and signage possibilities for cinema operators, aiming at delivering unique experiences for movie-goers,” said Corinne Thibaut, international director of cinema and leisure at Coca-Cola. “We wanted to help CineEurope visitors to envision the future and dream big for the cinema industry.”

Screen and projector technology

The lounge contained a motion-activated film promotion and a Coca-Cola-themed bar, using 46-80” MultiSync LCD displays by NEC.

Other NEC displays supported a 55" experience video wall promoting sale items, film trailers and sponsorships. Large format displays were also used to drive concession stand menu boards, cash register displays and way-finding solutions in the lounge.

Finally, visitors could view a Coca-Cola “Splash” projection setup, which ran on two NEC large-venue projectors with integrated hardware edge-blending function.

Coca-Cola was the main official corporate sponsor of this year’s CineEurope show.
