Asda adds planning and optimisation software

By Retail Technology | Thursday September 29 2022 | UPDATED 28.09.22

Supermarket giant Asda has chosen new planning and optimisation software to transform its in-house transport operations

It will deploy the “Perfect Logistics” industry solution experience from Dassault Systèmes to leverage DELMIA Quintiq applications and optimise Asda’s flow of goods between its suppliers, distribution centres and stores, and enable the logistics team to continue to innovate its service proposition.

This implementation will also support driving efficiency and sustainability and strengthen its ability to offer high-quality and convenient services to more than 18 million customers per week.

Shifting operations into a virtual environment means Asda can rely on supply chain data, logistics resources, and insights to implement optimal delivery strategies, efficiently use resources, and centralise the planning process of its transport logistics services.

Efficiencies

The visibility and the control provided by DELMIA Quintiq applications will enable Asda to deliver on key performance indicators such as reduced transportation costs and improved operational efficiencies and on-time delivery.

Paul Anastasiou, senior director – parcel services, logistics technology and operating models, Asda, said: “Through the use of Dassault Systèmes’ logistics planner, we will be able to move goods quickly, efficiently and cost effectively across our supply ecosystem. Everyone managing our transport operations can see the same picture, and our primary and secondary distribution can work in sync across planning and execution.”
