Claims it ‘CANcliQ’ its way through the real-time tracking market

Claims it ‘CANcliQ’ its way through the real-time tracking market

Isotrak, is first to bring to market the revolutionary CANcliQ solution from Squarell, negating the need for fitting fleet management systems (FMS) enabling savings up to £1,500 per vehicle.

Traditionally, a FMS adapter has been required to extract the engine management system of most commercial vehicles from the CANbus. This system provides real-time extensive vehicle and engine management information such as engine revolutions, gears used, fuel usage and braking force.

Developed for over two years, Isotrak said CANcliQ is an innovative product, which retrieves accurate engine management and driving style data from vehicles, including most heavy good vehicles that do not have the FMS interface enabled. It is a non-intrusive device, which overcomes the need to connect directly to the engine management system (EMS), allowing operators to keep in line with their vehicle manufacturers’ recommendations. This eliminates liability concerns, warranty issues or possible wrong connections, according to the company.

Updating CANbus device

With vehicle operators having to tackle environmental issues and rising fuel prices, the need for reliable, meaningful driving style data is becoming more important. Isotrak wants to save companies from having to retrofit their fleets with the relevant manufacturer’s FMS interface, by ‘direct-fitting’ the CANBus device. While the latter option could be cheaper than enabling FMS, it could still void the vehicle’s warranty and service agreements because it involves direct fitting to the EMS, it added.

The small, light device is placed over the CANbus wires and then permanently secured with one click. The data is then transmitted using induction sensors that can read vehicle signals via the vehicle wiring loom, and most importantly – without invalidating the warranty or maintenance agreements, the company said.

Tjay Tjiook, chief executive officer at Squarell, commented: “We are pleased to have Isotrak on board as a committed supplier of our product, and believe the benefit case will be of tremendous value for its customers in terms of installation time, simplicity, accuracy of data and of course costs. Not to mention that wire soldering, cutting or crimping will forever be a thing of the past.”

Greville Coe, sales and marketing director at Isotrak, added: “We are delighted to add CANcliQ to our growing product suite and being the first telematics service provider to offer the CANcliQ solution in the UK. It clearly meets the needs of our industry and reduces the payback period for non-FMS vehicles while increasing the return on investment.”
