MetaPack enables ASOS.com same-day delivery service

ASOS.com went live with its same-day delivery service at the end of August, using MetaPack delivery management software and CitySprint's SameDay Courier solution.

ASOS.com sees the same-day delivery offering as a differentiator in its market. Customers wanting delivery to addresses within the M25 and some areas on its outskirts, as well as within a 50-mile radius of ASOS.com's warehouse in Hemel Hempstead ,can now select the same-day option if ordering before 2pm on weekdays and 12pm on weekends.

 

This is made possible through a real time, sub-second call to MetaPack by ASOS.com's web front-end, which then registers the address and returns the available delivery option.

 

Patrick Wall, MetaPack chief executive said: is "ASOS.com [is] once again breaking new ground by being one of the first UK retailers to offer a same day service on such a wide range of products...[and] are working with ASOS.com on further developments in their delivery options which are all being made possible through the flexibility of our platform."

 

The speed and efficiency required to successfully carry out such an operation has been aided by the automatic data transfer and complete visibility of order and delivery through MetaPack and the service offered by SameDay Courier network of CitySprint. CitySprint is the UK's largest with a national network of 30+ ServiceCentres.

 

Hilton Eachus, ASOS.com customer delivery manager explained the decision behind offering the same day service: "Even though our customers are happy with our delivery options we are determined to constantly evolve, remaining ahead of the market and setting a precedent. We want to offer our customers as much choice as possible while maintaining the simplicity of our checkout process."

 

In the first week, 141 orders were delivered on the same-day service, most of which were high-value orders, with an average basket value of 120. Take up of the same day service is expected to increase, as more ASOS.com customers become aware of it. At a cost of 16.95 it offers customers a choice of a premium service and delivery of their goods on the same day as purchase.
