Downloadbuyer.com to use new arvato RED service as e-distribution platform for Microsoft Windows 7 and Office 2010 software

 

Online software superstore, Downloadbuyer.com has become the first UK customer to sign up to the new arvato Retail Electronic Distribution (RED) software e-distribution platform from the media and communications services division of arvato Bertelsmann, arvato digital services.

 

As one of only two authorised Microsoft e-distributors in Europe, arvato gives Downloadbuyer.com the ability to offer customers the full range of Microsoft Windows and Office products in download form.

 

The arvato RED distribution platform is designed to provide online retailing with a unified interface between content providers (such as software manufacturers) and online stores. Manufacturers enlist their product once to the RED Cloud-based distribution platform to make it immediately available through online shops to millions of consumers.

 

Expanding software sales opportunity

 

The advantage for retailers, according to the company, is that they can now stock electronically distributed products from any software publisher they choose without having to sign up with each one individually or build their own systems to manage the downloads.
