Retail IT specialist extends relationship with UK hospitality company in £1.2-million deal

Torex has announced it has signed a contract to extend its work with Tragus, one of the UK’s largest casual dining restaurant chain operators.

Tragus will work with Torex to upgrade the point-of-sale (PoS) software in its 289 sites, which include Café Rouge, Strada and Bella Italia restaurants, as well as installing PoS hardware in all newly opening restaurants.

Extending longstanding relationship

The £1.2-million contract extends the relationship between the two companies, which have worked together for many years. The deal includes continued support services and expert advice from Torex, as well as insight into its product roadmap for the restaurant chain.

The Torex ABS PoS Enterprise Management System is already implemented throughout the Tragus estate. Using Torex ABS PoS, Tragus can collate data centrally to provide head office with easy access to relevant information across all brands. Data regarding prices, products and promotions is automatically synchronised with PoS terminals, enabling staff to deliver fast and efficient service to Tragus’ millions of customers.

With a diverse range of restaurant brands within its portfolio, the PoS software upgrade will ensure the business remains agile and responsive to new trends. It will also ensure Tragus can prepare for future initiatives in loyalty and promotions. The new software upgrades will be rapidly deployed across the entire Tragus estate within the next six months.

New hardware adds durability

The provider will also install its Torex A12 PoS hardware in all newly opened Tragus restaurants. This will provide Tragus with robust and durable PoS hardware designed to withstand spillages and damage. The hardware will be installed in all of the additional 15 restaurants Tragus plans to open before the end of its financial year.

Derek Risk, IT director for Tragus, explained: “We see technology as a key enabler for our efforts to offer our customers great food and service. We’ve been very pleased with the ABS PoS so far and we’re happy to be working with Torex to secure further benefits from the system and help grow our business.”
