European e-commerce provider expects first UK retail customers to go live with marketplace's transactional functionality in September 2011

European e-commerce provider expects first UK retail customers to go live with marketplace's transactional functionality in September 2011

Venda, an on demand e-commerce provider, has signed a deal with Amazon to integrate Checkout by Amazon, its e-commerce checkout and payment capability for retailers, into its platform.

Venda will be the first e-commerce provider in Europe to offer its retail clients a cloud-based platform that incorporates Checkout by Amazon since its launch in Europe this March. It said the Amazon checkout functionality will be integrated into the Venda platform using inline implementation. This additional payment method will be matched to client’s website and brand look and feel, providing customers with a consistent brand experience throughout the checkout process while retaining elements of the familiar Amazon brand.

Adding trusted and convenient payment option

Venda said the integration would help to improve its customers' conversion and reduce shopping cart abandonment by giving them an additional payment option for their customers who wish to purchase goods on their site. It will also enable these retailers to tap into the millions of customers who regularly use and trust Amazon.

Shoppers can complete purchases without having to re-enter their delivery or payment information, as this information is already securely stored within their Amazon credentials. In addition, online shoppers will be attracted to the benefit of being able to ship items in a single order to multiple addresses.

“Integrating Checkout by Amazon within our e-commerce platform, extends our secure and flexible offering,” commented Eric Absenur, Venda chief executive. “The attraction of Checkout by Amazon to our 100+ retail customers around world, is that its proven fraud detection capabilities, chargeback controls, and risk management processes will reduce bad debt and lower costs. It will also give existing and potential customers visiting their site a wider choice of ways to pay.”

It is expected that the implementation of Checkout by Amazon into the Venda e-commerce platform will be launched with live trading customers by September 2011, in plenty of time for the Christmas online shopping peak.
