Retail technology supplier unveils what it calls, “the future of instore commerce” with kiosk installation

Footasylum has debuted an instore commerce system from cloud-based multichannel retail provider One iota at its flagship Manchester Arndale store.

The ‘SmartPod’ has been designed for Footasylum to provide a digital instore shopping experience so customers can browse or be assisted in purchasing from the entire designer clothes and footwear retailer’s e-commerce range.

Multichannel options on offer

Customers have the option of free delivery to their home or store collection. And the SmartPod allows shoppers to make payments via a chip & PIN terminal and integrates with existing systems.

Emma Ryder, e-commerce marketing assistant at Footasylum, said the retailer had a good working relationship with One iota and that the expertise of its people in new retail technology had been “invaluable from the outset”.

The SmartPod launch with Footasylum follows One iota’s production of a mobile-optimised site, native iPhone application and Facebook store during the past 12 months as part of the retailer’s multichannel initiatives.

Responding to customer demands

“We know our customers are keen to use technology as part of shopping with us and with One iota we have created something which we feel totally connects our online and instore retail journey to improve our customer experience of shopping with Footasylum,” she added.

Its maker said the SmartPod can be customised as required, but standard features include a 32-inc multitouch high definition (HD) screen, barcode scanner, receipt printer and secure chip & PIN payment terminal. Operating on One iota’s MESHCommerce Platform, the solution is managed by One iota, with integration into existing back-office functions.
