Oak Furniture Land grows affiliate sales

By Retail Technology | Thursday July 25 2013

Furniture retailer achieves £1m a month in sales with growing, dedicated affiliate marketing channel

Oak Furniture Land has worked with European affiliate marketing company Optimus Performance Marketing (OPM) to develop its brand over the past five years.

The work has now helped the multichannel retailer to achieve £1m in sales during peak months through its online affiliate channel.

In August 2008 J B Global, a UK independent online hardwood furniture retailer, hired OPM to help increase revenue through its site, oakfurnitureland.co.uk. The website focuses on selling a wide choice of high quality furniture, with the average shopping basket size totalling over £700.

OPM has since helped Oak Furniture Land in its aims to continually review the efficiency of the site’s affiliate marketing campaigns.

Innovation builds affiliate revenue

The site has implemented marketing approaches such as commission increases, promotions, incentives and competitions, which have all helped to increase revenue through the channel.

One type of product that has seen a particular surge in sales through work with OPM has been Oak Furniture Land's dining set ranges. The work carried out in the past five years has also helped bring various new ranges to the market for the site, such as the new solid rustic oak ranges, Quercus and Orrick.

Ross Lawson, head of IT at Oak Furniture Land, said: “Our increased revenue in the past five years since OPM first took over our affiliate programme is astonishing. In August 2008 oakfurnitureland.co.uk was making around £10,000 a month in sales through the affiliate channel and now, in peak months, OPM has achieved in excess of £1m in sales. They have undoubtedly managed to keep the profitability of the campaign strong throughout this period.”
